The large thermoforming process starts with a flat sheet of plastic, usually made of materials like ABS, polycarbonate, or acrylic. The sheet is heated until it reaches its forming temperature, which can range from 250 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the sheet is heated, it is transferred to a forming station where it is pressed against a mold or placed over a vacuum chamber.

In the case of pressure forming, the heated sheet is pressed against the mold using a combination of air pressure and mechanical force. This allows the plastic to take the shape of the mold and create the desired part. Pressure forming is often used for complex shapes or parts that require high levels of detail.

In vacuum forming, the heated sheet is placed over a mold, and a vacuum is applied to suck the plastic down onto the mold's surface. The vacuum pulls the plastic into the desired shape, and any excess material is trimmed away. Vacuum forming is typically used for simpler shapes and larger parts.

After the plastic has cooled and solidified, it is removed from the mold, and any finishing touches, such as trimming or drilling holes, are done. The final product is then ready for use or further processing, such as painting or assembly.

Large thermoforming offers several advantages over other manufacturing processes, including cost-effectiveness, fast production cycles, and the ability to create complex shapes. It is a versatile method that can be used for both low and high volume production, making it suitable for a wide range of industries.
